Crawl Space Insulation
Crawl space pages that connect moisture control, closed-cell foam, and residential retrofit planning.
Seal out moisture, mold, pests, and cold floors with closed-cell foam on your crawl space walls.

Feel a musty smell coming from under your house? That's your crawl space talking. Moisture gets in, mold grows, and that air works its way up into your living space. We spray closed-cell foam on the walls and rim joist, seal the vents, and lay a vapor barrier on the floor. The result: dry space, fresher air, warmer floors, and lower energy bills.
If you've got a crawl space under your house, there's a good chance it's causing problems you don't even realize. Indianapolis and Central Indiana homes with crawl spaces deal with moisture constantly — the combination of Indiana's clay-heavy soil, seasonal humidity swings, and those old-school vented crawl space designs creates the perfect environment for mold, musty smells, and cold floors.
Here's what we do about it. We spray closed-cell foam directly onto the crawl space walls and rim joist. That creates a continuous thermal and moisture barrier in one application. We seal up any open vents — turns out those vents actually let moisture in rather than keeping it out, which is why building science has moved away from vented crawl spaces. Then we lay a heavy-duty vapor barrier on the floor to lock everything down.
Once we're done, your crawl space is dry, conditioned, and sealed. No more cold floors in winter. No more musty smells drifting up into your living space. And because you're not losing conditioned air through the floor anymore, your energy bills drop too. The sealed environment also keeps pests and rodents out — they don't like the lack of entry points.
We use closed-cell foam exclusively for crawl spaces because moisture resistance is non-negotiable down there. At R-6.5 per inch, just 2 inches on the walls gives you R-13 — that meets current Indiana energy code — and it acts as a vapor barrier at the same time. No need for a separate moisture barrier product on the walls.
A typical crawl space encapsulation for a 1,500 sq ft home runs around $3,800 including spray foam, 6 mil plastic, and full encapsulation. Give us a call for a free assessment — we'll crawl under there and tell you exactly what's going on.
